2018 FIRST Robotics – FIRST POWER UP – Bag and Tag
It has been a few days since my last update. The 4911 CyberKnights have been very busy putting the finishing touches on our competition robot for the 2018 Pacific Northwest FRC qualifications matches sponsored by FIRST Robotics and FIRST Washington. Tonight is “bag and tag.” This is a big night for all the FRC teams since this is the actual conclusion of the build season.
Our team finalized all the elements to our practice robot and performed all the tests. Everything is ready to go. The engineering team spent the last week building the final competition robot with some of the time getting the robot colored black. The software team spent time programming, testing and finalizing all control and autonomous for the first event. And the business team finalized all of our materials in preparation for the event and our submission for the Chairman’s Award for 2018.
The 4911 CyberKnights are scheduled to go to the Mount Vernon, WA event that is part of the first weekend of qualification matches scheduled for March 2nd through the 4th. Since the event is part of the first weekend of competitions, we have not seen any robots perform yet this year. We have named our robot Weeble this year because with the arm fully raised the robot will be top heavy and since a Weeble can be pushed and rocked but never falls down, we expect that our Weeble will be just as determined.
I am thankful for all the hard work that the team has put in over the last six weeks. I am thankful that bag and tag went off with a hitch. And I am thanful for all the mentors and their support. This all comes from our great leadership and Mr. Thompson (coach) brings us all together as one unified front.
Mr. T has told us that he is very proud and feels that this is the best robot he has seen since the CyberKinights joined FRC 5 years ago. We are very excited to compete this weekend and look forward to introducing the capabilities of Weeble to all the competitors. Go CyberKnights 4-9-1-1!!!
