2018 FIRST Robotics – FIRST POWER UP – Build Season Week 3
The CyberKnights are in the middle of week 3. The focus this week is the unveiling event. This event happens in the fifth week of the build season. We host the event here at King’s and send out invitations to all the local teams. We are expecting 10 plus teams and close to 250 people. The goal of the unveiling event is to basically have some fun and get to know other teams as we get ready to go into competitions in just a few weeks. This event helps to make strong bonds within the robotics community. A side effect of the unveiling event is the opportunity to share our robots and ideas. This plays right into two of the core values of FIRST robotics. These values are; Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition. Every team gets to highlight their work and gain a few ideas that may help to give their robot that extra edge. Currently there are no more seats available. If you would like to watch the CyberKnights unveiling event, please use this unveiling event link on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 to enjoy all the festivities.
The other great news for this week is, we have made amazing progress on the robot. The robot is completely wired and we only need to add the final modules. The robot is in the hands of the software team and they are currently working on the programming for the autonomous portion of the game. As we finish the other modules, the software team will have ample amounts of time to incorporate the additional programming to finalize a fully functional robot. This will be one amazing unveiling event. We will have our first ever completed robot to show.
I could not be prouder of the team so far this build season. Everyone’s hard work has really paid off. We had a little apprehension when we set the schedule. I mean who wouldn’t be. We have never set expectations of ourselves like this and the team is really putting their best foot forward. 4-9-1-1, go CyberKnights!
