2018 FIRST Robotics – FIRST POWER UP – Build Season Week 2
Week 2 is almost in the books. The goods news is, the team has really grabbed ahold of the updated schedule and are progressing very nicely. We have moved ahead of schedule which allows us some flexibility if we encounter any type of delays. In the past we have been delayed by ordered parts or equipment failure so having the little cushion is a blessing.
I thought today I might give you an example of a day in the life of our team. After school, our business team starts up in Mr T’s classroom. Mr. T is the coach of the CyberKnights and teaches all the technology classes here at Kings. Today the business team started with a discussion, that included the team mentors, around this years Chairman’s award. The discussion turned into a very riveting debate about which values will we focus on for our team presentation. The debate ended with a well-rounded list that will bring out the best of the outreach, involvement and values of the CyberKnights over the last year.
When you walk down to the lab. This were you will find all the engineering side of the team. You will see many focused groups diligently working on their assigned tasks. One group is working on the climber and calculating dimensions based on the games elements. Another team is focused on the safety and making sure that all stay safe as they work on the various tools through out the lab. And another group is working on raw materials as they prepare them for prototyping. The lab is in constant motion and it is great to see the importance of safety is on the mind of all the team members.
I am extremely excited to see build season is well under way and that everyone of the CyberKnights is doing their part. This is an amazing time and what we as the King’s Robotics team, live for each year.
